This blog was created as a place for the OLLS community to see what is happening in the library and share their reviews of books. Book entries must have the title of the book and author with a brief review of the book. Be careful to not give too much away!

Library Media Center News
Our Hero is….. (Grades K-2)
We recently read and discussed several books regarding our heroes – super heroes, important people, community helpers and everyday people. Then we created our individual classroom hero books. We had heroes ranging from mom and dad to superman to Jesus to even a gorilla! The books will remain on display in the library for the duration of the year all to enjoy!
Create Your Own Sports Star! (Grades 3-6)
Developing a strong character is critical to any story’s success. Students in 3rd -6th grades have worked the past few weeks to describe what they believe these traits and characteristics in a character may be. As a result, they are participating in a national contest to describe a sports star for a Sports Illustrated Kids Graphic Novel Series. If selected from the national pool, they will have the chance to have a professional artist draw a sketch of their character. We will have the chance to vote online our favorite starting March 1st! The winning character will be featured in an upcoming graphic novel with their name and school included the back of the book!
What’s on Your Mind? (Grades 6 & 7)
In collaboration with Mrs. Elliot’s Language Art classes, the students have written and submitted a poem to the Wake County Public Libraries Poetry Contest! We wish all the creative writers good luck!
